This body of work was inspired by my experiences working as an Art Instructor at a Long-Term Care facility, and formed part of the solo exhibition of the same name at Gallery 1248, Victoria.
Mostly serious, occasionally humorous, the paintings are based on real people at the end of life coming to terms with losing their faculties. Characters are placed in worlds that are somewhere between real and imagined. Music and dance appear as symbols of the part of the brain that continues to operate long after verbal communication and rational thought cease to have meaning. The incomplete figures and fossils represent a state of being and a suggestion of the memory each of us will be and the imprint we will leave.
